In the chilly days, we had a cozy meeting at Nakahara Shiminkan with three guests! Some of guests are from other toastmasters clubs. Both toastmaster and non-toastmaster guests are always welcomed ;)
December is a busy month and fewer members could make it this time. Some members took a second role voluntarily. I saw a value of toastmasters in the meeting: collaboration and cooperation!
After opening session (president remark and role introductions, etc), TM Y.U conducted the table topic session. The theme of the table topic was 'daily life' things. For example, he asked "do you think we should have priority seats in public transportation?" No right/wrong answer question and therefore not easy to answer. TM R.K answered with excellent opinions from educational perspectives. This session always inspires me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!!
In the prepared speech session, we had four speakers and each speaker demonstrated wonderful skills. The 1st speaker was TM Y.U and in his speech titled "Not that easy" (CC#9), he talked about a complexity of our society using a story of "mandatory helmet law" in Australia. Then, TM TM B.L, the 2nd speaker delivered a speech of CC#7 (named "How to be confident in 2 minutes") in which she introduced an effective way to feel confident. The key points? Take a "power pose!" The 3rd speech, "Your pain is our pain" was made by TM Y.O. His speech project was one of advanced projects: "delivering bad news." With no emotion an body language, but with calm tone of voice, he addressed messages to people who have suffered a tragedy. The last speaker was TM R.K. His speech, "Lesson and learned from Marathon" was about how he effectively improved his marathon records with tons of data. With a lots of visual graph and charts, he gave us tips to finish a marathon race within 4 hours (be a sub-4 runner)! Though I have never thought to try a marathon, his logical idea encouraged me a lot!
